JAUS
HAS MIGRATED TO SAE!
Welcome to the
Jauswg.org website. Here you will find the last versions of
the JAUS specifications – the Reference Architecture & the Compliance
Specification, as well as the Domain Model – that were generated by
the JAUS Working Group.
If you have used
this site in the past, you will notice that its scope has been reduced.
This is in keeping with our strategy to migrate JAUS into a commercial
international standard and a concomitant plan to curtail operations of
the JAUS Working Group. The documents on this website are considered
legacy and there is no intent to update or maintain them. All
activities on JAUS are now within the purview of the Society of
Automotive Engineers International (SAE).
JAUS has been a
messaging standard in the public domain since 1998. It was developed
and maintained by a combined industry, government, and academic team
to provide for interoperability and technology insertion in the field
of unmanned systems. In 2004, the process to transition JAUS to an
international civilian standards development organization (SDO) began. That process is now largely complete; however, work to expand
and improve the JAUS standard will continue.
JAUS
is now defined by a set of SAE Aerospace Standards (AS). It is
supported by additional documents as needed; e.g. Aerospace
Information Reports (AIR) and Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARP).

To obtain these
documents (for a nominal cost), go to the associated links above. We
recommend first checking with your organization – many
companies/agencies buy SAE standards as bundles, so they may already
be available to you.
Lastly, we thank the many supporters
and practitioners who have used the JAUS standard. We trust that SAE
JAUS will provide the same usefulness needed by acquirers of robotic
systems and invite you to participate in the SAE AS-4 Unmanned Systems
Technical Committee (http://www.sae.org). |
